Dydd Santes Dwynwen is the Welsh version of Valentine's Day and is celebrated on the 25th of January. St Dwynwen was a Celtic saint, born in the 5th century.  The original folktale states that Dwynwen fell in love with Maelon Dafodrill, but her father forbade the marriage leaving behind a heartbreaking love story for Dwynwen, who became known as the Welsh saint of lovers and holds a special place in Welsh hearts.
